FAQ
Does BitRemote download or search for torrents?+-
No. BitRemote is a remote control for BitTorrent clients you already run, such as Transmission and qBittorrent on your own server or NAS. It manages tasks on those clients and does not download or search for content itself.
Can I control my BitTorrent client when I am away from home?+-
Yes, as long as your server is reachable. BitRemote connects to the address you give it, so it works on your home network out of the box. To reach it from elsewhere, use the remote access you already have, such as a VPN, Tailscale, a reverse proxy, or port forwarding with dynamic DNS.
Does BitRemote work over HTTPS or with a self-signed certificate?+-
Yes. You can connect over HTTPS, and there is an option to allow self-signed or otherwise untrusted certificates for servers that use them.
Can I add a magnet link or torrent file from my iPhone?+-
Yes. Paste a magnet link or pick a .torrent file in the app. You can also share a .torrent into BitRemote from Safari or the Files app.
Does BitRemote have notifications or home screen widgets?+-
Not in the current version. Download notifications, home screen widgets, and Live Activities are in development for the upcoming v2.0 update.
